Art quarter budapest is an independent cultural institution set in the former Haggenmacher brewery in Budafok. Numerous Hungarian visual artists and creative enterprises found their constant base in the reconstructed industrial building complex. Since 2013 aqb runs an international artist-in-residency program, during this period hosted more than 90 artists from all over the world.

The residency program contains accommodation, a private studio and a pop-up solo show as a closure. Aqb also provides space for an experimental sound studio (Spatial Sound Institute) functioning as a research and development centre for spatial sound technologies and practices. Since 2015 in the special atmosphere of aqb Project Space, the team of aqb organizes international contemporary art exhibitions and art education program collaborating with curators and other institutions. Besides all of that the institution hosts other types of cultural programs like concerts, performances, readings, film screenings, workshops and gastronomical events.

Our residence program offers all entering participants a fully furnished room within a communal apartment located on the aqb premises, as well as a studio space catering to the project’s requirements. We offer varied services to integrate our residents into the local art scene and assist in establishing professional connections that best support their work and career. aqb personnel provide assistance through the program, catering to practical needs related to life in Budapest, to obtaining necessary materials, equipment and more.
