OFF ACADEMY V4

Group exhibitions of art universities V4. Part of the event is the installation week, during which photographic universities will come to Slovakia and participate in the preparation of the festival. They prepare proposals for their own exhibitions, which they then install. The installation week ends with the ceremonial opening of the festival, at which an expert jury will select the winner of the V4 prize – one student who will receive an award and a financial contribution for his own solo exhibition. This year, OFF Bratislava will present an exhibition by an artist who won the prize last year. In addition, the ON AWARD winner is selected from among all students, and the winner has the opportunity to exhibit their own project at the OFF Bratislava festival next year. The opening of the festival is followed by a weekend full of workshops and discussions (online streams), where students talk about their projects in front of the public, participate in the presentation of the artistic work of photographers who already have separate exhibitions for the festival. OFF SATELLITE V4

A newer section of the OFF Bratislava festival that quickly became successful and firmly established as part of the festival program. It features solo exhibitions by artists selected by the festival’s curatorial board. These exhibitions take place in partner institutions and galleries across Bratislava, often displayed in the windows of these spaces, which allows for direct interaction with the city and its public space, while still remaining within the framework of cultural or gallery environments. In recent years, we have expanded this section to include artists from the V4 countries, giving them the opportunity to present their work across various parts of Bratislava, beyond the main festival venue. The aim of this section is to bring contemporary art closer to the public and to extend its reach beyond traditional exhibition formats. Artists exhibit in partner institutions and galleries in Bratislava (for example Foggallery, Flatgallery, DK Zrkadlový haj and others) but also outdoors. The V4 section thus gets the opportunity to be heard in the streets of Bratislava and communicate with the public space through the overlap into the storefronts. OFF BRATISLAVA – Exhibitions of individual artists of the V4 countries

Individual Exhibitions represent a curated selection of approximately 25 solo exhibitions by artists from the V4 countries and beyond. Each project is installed as an autonomous exhibition, giving it full space for presentation and communication with the audience. The festival provides production support to young artists—offering printing, equipment rental, and installation assistance, as many of them are not able to secure these resources on their own. During the installation week, artists (or their curators) come to Bratislava and work closely with the festival team to prepare their exhibitions. The week culminates in a ceremonial grand opening attended by the public, a professional jury, media, and the artistic community. In the days following the opening (the weekend), the artists actively engage with the public through guided tours, artist talks, and accompanying events. This section also includes OFF BRANCH—a format of shared breakfasts with informal discussions among exhibiting artists, curators, and guests. Another important element is OFF TOUR—a guided tour of the exhibitions with the participating artists after the opening.
